The Maryland Association for the Colored Blind was organize October 15, 1913, for the purpose of advancing
the spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, physical and industrial development of the colored adult blind and in
extend to them sympathy and brotherhood.

It was later reorganized to include the deaf, dumb, crippled and feeble minded of Maryland and became the
Association for the Handicapped. Some of the most prominent white citizens of Maryland hove identified them-
