          March Court                 1762           1729
Jabez Pitt if he Should be found in his Bailywick and him Should Safe keep so that he might have his
body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at Princes Ann Town the
third Tuesday of March Anno Dom. 1762 to Answer unto his Said Lordship of and Concerning the
Indictment afd. &c
           Att which day here Came the afd. Jabez Pitt in his Proper person and had a hearing of the
Indictment afd. Saith that he will not Contend with his Said Lordship but for the Saveing Costs Labour &
Expence about the premisses Submits himself at fine with his Said Lordship and puts himself upon
favour of the Court &c    Whereupon all and Singular the Premisses being Seen and by the Court
fully understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. Jabez Pitt for the Offence afd. be taken &c.
which Said Jabez Pitt present here in Court as afd. is fined Six pence Curt Money which he paid to the
Sheriff for the use of his Lordship &c

The Same
@    Somerset to wit Be it Remembred that George Hayward Gent Attorney of the Right
Cate Talbot    Honrble the Lord Propry that now is who for the Same Lord Propry in this part Prosecuteth doth
Come here into the County Court of the Same Lord Propry held for Somerset County to wit at Princes Ann
Town in the Same County before Isaac Handy Esqr and his Associates the Said Lord Propry his Justices of the Same
County Court and for the Same Lord Propry doth Give the Same Justices here to understand and be Informed
that Catherine Talbot Late of Stepney Parish in the County of Somerset the xxi day of March in the
Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty one at the Parish afd. in the County afd. did Commit
Fornication with a Certain person unknown and did permit the Same unknown person to have Carnal
knowledge of her body and a bastard Child on the body of her the Said Catherine then and there did beget
to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evill Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary
to the peace of the Said Lord Propry that now is his good Rule and Government and Against the form
of the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided and So forth And Whereupon the Same Attorney
of the Same Lord Propry for the Lord Propry prays Advice of the Court here in the premisses and that
due process of Law may in this part be made Against the Said Catherine to Answer of and upon the premisses
&c       Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that Immediately he Should
Take the Said Catherine Talbot if &c. to Answer &c
           And now to witt at a Court of his Lordship held at Princes Ann Town the third Tuesday of March
being the Sixteenth day of the Same Month Anno Dom. 1762 before the Justices thereof Came the afd.
Catherin Talbot According to a Certain Recognizance by her and ha in that part before Acknowledged and
had a hearing of the Information afd. Saith that She Cannot deny but that She is Guilty of the premisses
in the Information afd. above upon her Imposed in manner and form as by the Information afd. Above
Against her Supposed and maketh Oath that a Certain Jonathan Stott is the father of the Child She Stands
Informed Against &c.    Whereupon All and Singular the Premisses being Seen and by the Court fully
understood it is Considered by the Court here that the afd. Catherine Talbot for the offence afd. be taken and
Whereupon the Said Catherine Talbot is fined the Sum of thirty Shillings Curt Money for the offence afd. but
hath not Anything to pay the Same withall but is willing to Give Sery for the Same According to Act of Assembly
Thereupon a Cert the Said Cate Talbot together with Joshua Turpin of Somerset County planter her Sery both
present here in Court in their proper persons Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto the afd. his Lordship the
Lord Propry in three pounds Curt Money of Maryland of their bodys Goods or Chattles Lands and Tenements
Joyntly and Severally to the use of his Said Lordship his heirs and Successors to be made and Levied if it

happen that the Said Cate Talbot do not pay ^ the Justices of Somerset County Court on or before the Eighteenth
day of March Anno Dom. 1763 the Sum of thirty Shillings Curt Money for her fine afd. &c.
