Good Rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in
Such Case made and provided                        T francis Cler. pac.
Test W.m Bradshaw        On the Back of the preceeding Indictment was as foll.s
viz.t True Bill Sam.l Groome foreman

    And the afd Anne King in her proper person Comes and Saith that She Can
not gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against her Brought nor but
that She is Guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed as by the afd
Indictment it is alledged and thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore
it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the Court house in the Town
of Chester in Kent County this fifteenth Day of August Anno Dom.
Seventeen hundred and twenty Seven that the s.d Anne King Receive at
the publick whipping post Seven Lashes well laid on her bare Back
till the Blood appears as a punishment for her afd Crime of Committing
fornication in form afd Confest also it is Considered that the Said Anne
pay the Same of three hundred and fifty Eight pounds of Tobacco Costs
Accrueing on the Indictment afd to the officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here that at this Day to wit the Day and year last
mentioned that the Sher of Kent County take the afd Anne King into
his Custody and Execute the punishment in the Judgment afd Specified
and afterwards to bring her into Court again of which precept the s.d
Sherf to wit John Gresham Gent high Sherf of Kent County makes
Return on the Day and year last Said that he hath Executed y.e Said
Judgment and also hath here the said Anne King before the Court

    Ordered by the Court here that the s.d Anne King prove y.e begetter of y.e
Child in y.e Indictment afd Specified who Declares on y.e holy Evangilist
of Almighty God that a Certain John Thomas is the Father of y.e s.d Child

    Ordered by the Court here that the Sherf of Kent County keep the afd Anne
King in Safe Custody untill She Shall Satisfie the fees in y.e Judgment
afd Specified
