THURSDAY, December 5, 1805.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday, except Mr. Cockey.

The speaker being absent from indisposition, the house proceeded to ballot for a speaker pro tempore; the
ballots being deposited in the ballot box, upon examination thereof it appeared, that Lloyd Dorsey, Esquire,
was elected.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Petitions from Francis Mottre, Absalom Chenworth, Jacob Sitler and Benjamin Arnold, of Baltimore coun-
ty, praying acts of insolvency, were preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on petitions of a
similar nature.

Mr. Bruce, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Charles F. Brodhag, of Allegany county, report, that
after duly considering the same, they are of opinion the prayer of the petitioner ought to be granted, and beg
leave to recommend to the house the adoption of the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby directed to pay to Charles F. Brod-
hag, or order, of Allegany county, thirty-four dollars, the said sum having been heretofore paid into the trea-
sury by said Brodhag as nine per cent, additional interest, imposed on him upon a balance due to the state,
as one of the securities of Robert Sinclair.

Which was read.

Mr, Lemmon, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower
the levy court of Baltimore county to assess and levy a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned; which
was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Harryman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Henry
Stevenson, of Baltimore county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Ellicott, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act relative to vagrants in the
city of Baltimore, which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The following order was read, viz.

ORDERED, That the bill, entitled, An act relative to vagrants in the city of Baltimore, be published in the
American, the Telegraphe, the Evening Post, and the Federal Gazette, for the information of those con-
cerned.

And the question put, Will the house agree to the said order ? Determined in the negative.

The house, according to the order of the day, proceeded to the consideration of the bill, entitled, A further
additional supplement to an act, entitled, An act for marking and bounding lands, and, on motion, the question
was put, That the said bill be recommitted? Determined in the negative.
The question was then put, Shall the said bill pass? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

So it was resolved in the affirmative.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill for the more effectual preservation of wild deer in Somerset county,
endorsed " will pass. " And the bill to vest temporary powers in the several clerks in the several counties of
this state, endorsed, " will pass with the proposed amendments. " Which amendments were read the first and
second time, agreed to, and the bills ordered to be engrossed.

The clerk of the senate also delivers the following message:

BY THE SENATE, December 5, 1805.
GENTLEMEN OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

WE have received your message of the 4th instant, and have appointed Mr. M'Culloch, Mr. Brown, Mr.
Partridge, Mr. Thomas and Mr. Williams, a committee on the part of the senate, to join the gentlemen by you
appointed to compare and examine the engrossed bills.

THE committee to whom was referred the memorial of the trustees of the academy of the town of Easton,
in Talbot county, beg leave to recommend the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the said trustees be permitted, and they are hereby authorised and empowered, to suspend
the renewal of their contracts with their professors, after the expiration of their present terms, and to apply
