Gentlemen of the Senate,

ROBERT WRIGHT, Esquire, having been elected governor of this state, we propose that a joint letter
should be written by the president of the senate and speaker of the house of delegates, and immediately for
warded by express, to notify him of his election, and to request his attendance in order to be qualified according
to the constitution and form of government.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill to settle and ascertain the salary of the members of the council for
the ensuing year, endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed.

On motion, the question was put, Will the house now proceed to a nomination for the members of the coun-
cil? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

TUESDAY, November 11, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members, as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. William Hebb, a delegate returned for Saint-Mary's county, appeared, and alter qualifying in the mode
prescribed by the constitution and form of government, and taking an oath to support the constitution of the
United States, took his seat in the house.

The resolution relative to the sitting of the house, was read the second time, and the question put, Will the
house assent to the same? Resolved in the affirmative.

Mr. Denny, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to lay out and open a public
road in Hopkins's neck, in Talbot county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
A petition from James Evans, and others, of Caecil county, praying that a law may pass for opening a road
from the northwest side of Stone run, near the mouth thereof, to intercept a road leading from Bald Friar ferry
to the Christiana bridge, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Porter, Mr. Moffit and Mr. Mitchell, to
consider and report thereon.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Saint-Mary's county, praying that a fourth election district may be laid
off in said county, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Hebb, Mr. H. Brown and Mr. Gardiner, to
consider and report thereon.

A petition from John Evans, and others, of Caecil county, securities of Samuel Cowdon, late sheriff of said
county, deceased, praying further time to complete his collections, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr.
Mitchell, Mr. Porter and Mr. Moffit, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from Frederick Green, printer to the state, praying an advance of part of his salary, was pre
ferred, read, and referred to Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Hawkins and Mr. Muir, to consider and report thereon.
A petition from William A. Parker, of Worcester county, praying a law may pass authorising a lottery to
raise three thousand dollars, to be applied to the building of a mill of his own invention, was preferred, read
and referred to Mr. White, Mr. Smoot, Mr. Dashiell, Mr. Harryman and Mr. Merriken, to consider and re-
port thereon.

Kerr, Francis Digges, Alexander Contee, John Maxwell, Daniel C. Hopper and Samuel Ridout, Esquires, are
put in nomination by this house. We have appointed Mr. Little and. Mr. Comegys to join any gentlemen named
by your house to examine the ballots, and report thereon.
