22 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1806.

ury of the Western shore, which forfeiture was by the governor and council, on the 10th day of June, 1802,
remitted; they therefore beg leave to recommend the following resolution;

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised to pay into Robert Swails,
of Montgomery county, or to his order, the sum of five pounds current money, with interest thereon from the
10th day of June, 1802.

Which was read.

The bill for the relief of William Rickard, of Montgomery county, was read the second time, passed, and

ent to the senate by the clerk.

The following resolutions were read the first and second time, assented to, and sent te the senate by the clerk.
RESOLVED, That a joint committee of the two houses be appointed, to inspect the government property ap-
propriated for the use of the governor, and report the situation of the same, whether any, and if any, what

repairs are necessary, and what will be the amount of the expences attendant on such repairs.

RESOLVED, That Messieurs Jackson and Sudler. be appointed on the part of this house.
Mr. Carroll has leave of absence.

Mr. W. H. Brown, from the committee, delivers, to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act authorising James
Cooke, late sheriff and collector of Saint Mary's county, to complete his collection; which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill entitled, An act for the more effectual preservation, of last wills
and testaments disposing of real estates. ORDERED, That Mr. C. D, Hodges, Mr Mitchell, Mr. Jackson, Mr.
Chapman and Mr. Williams, be a committee to prepare and bring. in the same.

On motion, ORDERED, That the bill to establish a chancery tribunal on the eastern shore of this state, and
to alter and abolish all such parts of the constitution and form, of government of this state as are repugnant
thereto, have a second reading on Thursday next.

The house adjourns, until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock..

SATURDAY, November 22,. 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday, except Mr. Carroll. The proceedings of
yesterday were read.

A petition from Henry Peters, of Baltimore county, praying that a law may pass to open a road from his land
to the turnpike road, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Little, Mr, Harryman and Mr. Aisquith, to
consider and report thereon.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Baltimore county, praying a law may pass making a public road from
the Union meeting-house to the Pennsylvania line near Joseph Morris's, was preferred, read, and referred to
the committee appointed on the petition of Henry Peter.

Mr. Jackson, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill supplementary to an act to provide for the
organization and regulation of the courts of common law in this state, and for the administration of justice
therein; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from John Young, of the city of Baltimore, praying a special act of insolvency, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Aisquith, Mr. Watts and Mr. Chapman, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Bowles, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to regulate and discipline
the militia of this state; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

ORDERED, That the same have a second reading on Tuesday the 2d December next.
Mr. Shaaff appears in the house.

The house, according to the order of the day, proceeded to ballot for a director on the part of this state in
$he bank of Baltimore; the ballots being deposited in the ballot box, the gentlemen named to strike retired,
and after sometime returned and reported that James L. Hawkins was elected. Whereupon

RESOLVED, That James L. Hawkins be and he is hereby declared to be, a director on the part of this state,
for the ensuing year, in the Bank of Baltimore.

A report of the trustees of Washington academy, in Somerset, county, was read and ordered to lie on the
table.

The clerk of the senate delivers a letter from the chairman of the visitors of Frederick county school, en-
closing a report, shewing the situation of said school and the disposition of the money appropriated for the
Use thereof; which were read and ordered to lie on the table.

On motion Leave given to withdraw the resolution relative to the furniture of the senate chamber and house
of delegates.

Mr. Porter, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to lay put and open a certain
road in Caecil county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A memorial from Frederick Green, printer to the state, praying the balance due him for printing Kilty's laws
may be paid, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Stuart,. Mr. Hawkins, Mr. Shaaff, Mr. Harryman and
Mr. Little, to consider and report thereon.
