further sum of one thousand dollars for the purchasing of such articles of furniture as are unavoidably necessa-
ry for the accommodation of the governor; they therefore submit the following resolutions:

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to the order of the governor the sum of two thousand
dollars, one thousand of which shall be applied to the repairs of the government property, and one thousand
dollars in the purchase of such furniture as he may deem necessary.

RESOLVED, That the governor be required to lay before the next general assembly an account of the manner
in which the said money shall have been applied.

A petition from Leonard Watkins, of Montgomery county, praying that the levy court of said county may
be authorised to levy a sum of money for his benefit, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Watts, Mr.

Selby and Mr. Darne, to consider and report thereon.

A petition of sundry inhabitants of Charles county, praying a road from the post-road across by Basil Spald-
ing's to intersect the road leading from Port-Tobacco to Piscataway, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr.
M'Pherson, Mr. Blakistone, Mr. Parnham, Mr. Chapman and Mr. P. Stuart, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of the city of Baltimore, praying a lottery for the benefit of Trinity
church, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Aisquith, Mr. Little and Mr. Harryman, to consider and re-
port thereon.

A petition from William Taylor, of Queen-Anne's county, praying a certificate of resurvey may be recorded,
was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Sudler, Mr. J. Brown and Mr. Downes, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from the trustees of the poor of Queen-Anne's county, praying that a further sum of 3000 dollars
may be levied for the benefit of the poor of said county, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Sudler, Mr.
Downes and Mr. J. Brown, to consider and report thereon.

The amendment proposed to the bill to lay out and open a certain road in Caecil county, was read the second
time, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed.

The bill authorising the commissioners of Charles-town, in Caecil county, to purchase a lot of ground for the
purpose therein mentioned, was read the. second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. Winder, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee which was appointed to examine what extra duties the clerk of the house of delegates had
performed in the arrangement of the papers belonging to the house of delegates, report to the house, that they
have made the necessary inquiry, and find them well arranged, and in such order as will very much facili-
tate the obtaining any of these papers that may be wanting; and farther report, that they believe sixty dollars
would be an adequate compensation.

Mr. Aisquith, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act authorising a lottery in
the city of Baltimore to raise a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned; which was read the first time
and ordered to lie on the table.

The supplement to an act, entitled, An act to authorise a lottery or lotteries to raise a sum of money for the
improvement of the navigation of the river Susquehanna, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the
senate by the clerk.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Harford county, praying the repeal of a law passed at the present session,
was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Street, Mr. Forwood and Mr. Davis, to consider and report thereon.
Mr. Bayard, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of William Jackson, of Caroline county, praying the le-
gislature to authorise the recording of a dred from Edmund Blades to Henry Casson, having had the same under
their consideration, arc of opinion that the chancellor has sufficient power to authorise the recording of said
deed, if in his opinion. the same would be right and proper; they therefore think that legislative interference is
unnecessary. By order, L. GASSAWAY, clk.
