VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1806. 99

The speaker laid before the house a letter from Robert Wright, junior, declaring he meant not to infringe
the privileges or. rules of decorum of the house by assaulting the officer, thereof; which was. read and referred.
to the committee of grievances and courts of justice.
The clerk of the senate delivers the following message:

By the SENATE, January 5, 1807.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates,
WE have also acted upon all the business before us, and propose to have the Iaws that Have passed immedi-
ately signed and sealed by the governor.. We have agreed to adjourn to the first Monday of November next.
By order, T. ROGERS, clk.
Which was read;

And the supplement to an act, entitled, An act to make and open a road in Baltimore county, endorsed " will
not pass. "

The following resolution was read the first and second time by especial order.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and directed to subscribe
for —— shares in the Farmers Bank, of Maryland, and for ——— shares in the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore,
and for ——— shares in the Baltimore and Frederick-town turnpike road, and for —— shares in the Baltimore,
and Reister's-town turnpike, road, and pay to the president and managers of the said companies the amount of
the shares so subscribed.

And the question put, That the first blank" be filled up with the words " sixteen hundred ?" The yeas and;
nays being required, appeared as follow:

So it was resolved in the affirmative.

The question was then put, That the said resolution be referred to the first day of June next? Resolved in
the affirmative.

The following resolution was read the first and second time by especial order.

Whereas various means have been proposed by this legislature for the disposal of the surplus money in the
treasury without effect, and as it is necessary to dispose of it in some way whereby it may be productive of ad-
vancing the interest of the state; therefore RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is
hereby authorised and directed, to purchase stock in the funds of the United States to an amount not exceeding
eighty thousand dollars, provided the same can be done on advantageous terms, of which the treasurer shall
judge.

And the question put That the house assent to the same? Determined in the negative.

Mr. Partridge and Mr. M'Elderry, from the senate, inform the speaker that the governor is attending in the
senate to sign and seal the engrossed bills, and request the attendance of this house for that purpose.

The speaker, left the chair, and, attended by the members of this house, went to the senate, and there pre-
sented the following engrossed bills to the governor, who signed the same, ami affixed the great seal thereto, in
the presence of both houses.

No. 1. An ACT to fettle and ascertain the salary of the members of the council for the ensuing year.

2. An ACT authorising a lottery for raising a sum of money for the use and benefit of the Charitable Marine Society of the
city of Baltimore.

3. An ACT to lay out and open a public road in Hopkin's Neck, in Talbot county.

4. An ACT for the relief of William Rickard, of Montgomery county.

5. An ACT to authorise and empower the levy court of Worcester county to assess and levy a sum of money for the support
and maintenance of Susanna Davis.

6. An ACT for the relief of Hugh Lemmon and James Burton, of Frederick county.

7. An ACT authorising John Evans, James Cockran and Joseph Phillips, securities of Samuel Cowden, late sheriff of Caecil.
county, to complete the collections of said sheriff.

8. An ACT for the relief of John Figg, of Montgomery county.

9. An ACT to provide for recording certain papers in the register's office of Saint-Mary's county;

10. An ACT authorising James Cooke, late sheriff and collector of Saint-Mary's county, to complete his collection.

11. A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to lay out and open a public road in Hopkin's Neck, in Talbot county.
12. A Further additional supplement to an act entitled, An act to regulate the inspection of tobacco.

13. An ACT to appoint and authorise commissioners to review and lay out the road therein mentioned in Harford county. —

14. An ACT to confirm and make valid certain proceedings of the orphans courts in different counties of this state, or the
justices thereof.

15. An ACT authorising a lottery for raising a sum of money for the rector and vestry of Saint-Thomas's parish, in Bal-
timore county,
