38 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1807.

Chirac have now, and ever have had, a legal remedy against the present possessors of the property left by their
relation, who died intestate, in Baltimore, in the year eighteen hundred.

All which is submitted.

Which was read.

The bill for the benefit of Margaretta Chalmers, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by
the clerk.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A further additional supplementary act to the act, enti-
tled, An act for quieting possessions, enrolling conveyances, and securing the estates of purchasers. ORDERED,
That Mr. Winder, Mr. Gale, of Somerset, and Mr. Shaaff, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

The following resolution was read and agreed to.

RESOLVED, That on Tuesday, the first of December next, this house will proceed to the appointment of a
director to the Bank of Baltimore, on behalf of this state, for the ensuing year.

The following, message was read, agreed to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, November 30, 1807.
Gentlemen of the Senate

WE propose, with the concurrence of your house, to proceed on Thursday next to the election of two direc-
tors on the part of this state in the Union Bank of Maryland; and to regulate said election we have adopted
the following resolution:

RESOLVED, That the two directors to be appointed on the part of this state in the Union Bank of Maryland
be elected by ballot, and the two persons having a majority of the ballots of all the attending members of both
houses of the legislature, be declared duly elected directors on the part of this state in the Union Bank of Ma-
ryland.

A memorial From the justices of the orphans court of Kent county, praying that certain papers in said court
may be recorded, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Gale, of Kent, Mr. Welch and Mr. Brice, to con-
cider and report thereon.

A memorial from Elie Williams, and others, praying a law may pass authorising the chancellor to carry into ef-
fect an agreement made between the administrators of Robert Elliot and Elie Williams, was preferred, read, and

referred to Mr. Bowles, Mr. Tabbs, Mr. Schnebly, Mr. Shaaff and Mr. Stone, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Seth, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to alter and abolish all such
parts of the constitution and form of government as relate to the residence of voters; which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from Molly Walker, of Worcester county, praying a divorce, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. J. Williams, Mr. Winder and Mr. Stone, to consider and report thereon.

ORDERED, That the bill to alter and abolish all such parts of the constitution and form of government as re-
late to the residence of voters, be recommitted for amendment.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill to make valid a deed from Isaac Dixon to John Dashiell for part of a
tract of land called Dixon's Green, endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. Also a bill, entitled,
A supplement to an act, entitled, An act to establish a bank, and incorporate the subscribers thereto; which

was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Somerset county, praying a road from Willingam's Bridge, near Prin-
cess-Anne-town, to the plantation of George Pollitt, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Jackson, Mr.
Gale, of Somerset, and Mr. Winder, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from John Maloy, of Caecil county, praying that he may be allowed to follow the business of a
hawker and pedler without paying license, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Porter, Mr. Mitchell, Mr.
Cox, Mr. T. Moffit and Mr. Brice, to consider and report thereon.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, A supplement to the act for the more effectual preserva-
tion of the breed of wild deer in Somerset county. ORDERED, That Mr. Jackson, Mr. Gale, of Somerset, and
Mr. King, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

The supplement to the act, entitled, An act to regulate elections, was read the second time and passed.

Mr. Winder, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A further additional supplementary
act to the act, entitled, An act for quieting possessions, enrolling conveyances, and securing the estates of pur-
chasers; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Kerr appears in the house.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.


TUESDAY, December 1, 1807.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday, except Mr. Green. The proceedings of
yesterday were read.
The further supplement to the act, entitled, An act to regulate elections, was sent to the senate by the clerk.
