bill ordered to be engrossed. The supplement to an act, entitled, An act to prevent the going at large of swine
in the village of Hillsborough, in Caroline, county, and the bill for the relief of James West, an insolvent

debtor, severally endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed.

A petition from Henry Walter, of Kent county, an alien, praying lie may be enabled to hold real property,
was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Gale, of Kent, Mr. W. Moffitt and Mr. Brice, to consider and report
thereon.

Mr. Little, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to regulate and discipline the
militia of this state; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

WEDNESDAY, December 9, 1807.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday, The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. Little, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to the act, entitled, An
act authorising a lottery for raising a sum of money for the rector and vestry of Saint-Thomas's parish, in Bal-

timore county; which was read the. first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from William Mills Beavans, of Worcester county, praying that the register of the land-office for
the eastern shore may be directed to correct a warrant issued to him, was preferred, read, rand referred to Mr.
J. Williams, Mr. Sturgis and Mr. Robins, to consider and report thereon. .:
A petition from Sally Flemming, of New-York, praying she. may be authorised, under the direction of the or-
phans court of Worcester county, to sell the real estate of her late husband for the benefit of her children, was
preferred, read, and referred to Mr. J. Williams, Mr. Sturgis and Mr. Dashiell, to consider and report thereon.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act relative to writs of capias ad satisfaciendum. OR-
DERED, That Mr. J. E. Spencer, Mr. Shaaff and Mr. Sudler, be. a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
The following order was read.

ORDERED, That no motion for an adjournment be. received by the house until after the hour of three o'clock
in the afternoon.

And the question put, That the house agree to the same? Determined in the negative.
The clerk of the senate delivers the following message:

By the SENATE, December 9, 1807.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates,

WE have assented to your resolution regulating the election of two directors on the part of the state in the
Farmers Bank of Maryland. Mr. William Hayward and Mr. William Kilty are put in nomination by the senate,
and we have appointed Mr. Williams and Mr. Partridge to join the gentlemen who may be named by your house
to examine the ballots.

Which was read.
The following message was read, agreed to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, December 9, 1807.
Gentlemen of the Senate,
WE have received your message of this day proposing to proceed immediately to the election of two directors

on the part of this state in the Farmers Bank of Maryland. David Kerr, junior, is put in nomination by this
house in addition to the gentlemen named by your house. Mr. Stevens and Mr. Stone are appointed by this
house to join the gentlemen named by you to examine the ballots.

By order, J. BREWER, clk.

A petition from Susanna Beamer, praying a divorce, Was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Little, Mr.
M. Brown and Mr. Harryman, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Montgomery and Prince-George's counties, praying a road from Vans-
ville to Montgomery court-house, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Carroll, Mr. Ray, Mr. Linthicum,
Mr. Callis and Mr. Hall, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. J. E. Spencer, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act relative to writs of

capias ad satisfaciendum; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. T. Dorsey, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to provide for the dis-
charge of insolvent debtors in Baltimore county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Hopewell has leave of absence.

A petition from Thomas Meredith, of Baltimore county, praying that the treasurer of the western shore may
refund him money overpaid by his deceased brother in the purchase of confiscated property, was preferred, read,
and referred to Mr Harryman, Mr. M. Brown and Mr. Little, to consider and report thereon.

The bill to enlarge the powers of the trustees of the poor of Montgomery county, was read the second time
and passed.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Kent county; counter to the petition in favour of John Moore, was
Referred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on the petition to which it is counter.
