THE house met. Present the. same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

A petition from the managers, of the Falls turnpike road company, praying a road may be laid as straight as
practicable from the end of the Falls turnpike road in. a direction to Hanover, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. T. Dorsey, Mr. Little, Mr. Harryman, Mr. M. Brown and Mr. Jackson, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Streett, from the committee,. delivers to. the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to abolish all such parts of
the constitution and form of government. as relate to the time and manner of electing the senate, and the mode
of filling up vacancies in that body; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

A petition from Elizabeth. Sherwood. and Thomas Banning, of Talbot county, praying time to complete the
collection of Hugh Sherwood, late sheriff, deceased, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Kerr, Mr. Ste-
vens and Mr. Seth, to consider and report thereon..

A petition from Joseph Boyd, of Prince-George's county, praying a divorce, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. Callis, Mr. Page and Mr, Carroll, to consider and report thereon.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to authorise the levy court of Charles county to
levy a sum of money for the purposes therein mentioned. ORDERED, That Mr. Stone, Mr. C. Dorsey and Mr.
Rogerson, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.

The clerk of the senate delivers the supplement to the act, entitled, An act to open and extend a road leading
from Whittingham's bridge, at Princess-Anne-town, in Somerset county, to the plantation of George Pollitt,
deceased, until it intersects the road leading from Salisbury to Stevens's ferry at the plantation of Joshua Morris,
the further supplement to an act, entitled, An act for erecting village at Choptank bridge, in Caroline county,
and for other purposes therein mentioned, the bill to lay out, straighten and confirm, a certain road in Harford
county, the bill to prevent swine from going at large in the town of Belle-Air, in Harford county, the further
supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the relief of sundry insolvent debtors, the supplement to the act, en-
titled, An act to. lay out and make a public road from the Black House to the Pennsylvania line, in Harford.
county, and the bill. to extend further the powers of the levy court of Allegany county relative to roads in said
county, and for other purposes, severally endorsed, " will pass, " Ordered to be engrossed. Also the following
message:

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates

AT this eventful crisis, when the most flagrant outrage upon the dignity and independence of our country,
and a denial of our dearest and most inestimable privileges, threaten to commit our peace with the British nation,
we conceive that sound policy and national justice require, that the sentiments and feelings of the people of the
state of Maryland should be communicated to the executive of the United States, through the medium of their
legislature; we therefore propose, with the concurrence of your honourable body, to appoint a joint committee
of both branches of the legislature to frame an address to the President of the United States, appropriate to
the present occasion, and have nominated Mr. Somervell, Mr. Partridge and Mr. Glenn, to join such gentlemen
as may be appointed by your house for that purpose.
