72 VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS, NOVEMBER SESSION, 1808.

Mr. Mitchell, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the bill, entitled, An act for the improvement of
Elkton, in Caecil county, as amended; which was read the first and second time by especial order, passed, and
sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr. O. Williams, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of Nancy
Gaither, Sarah Gaither and Mary Gaither; which was read the first and second time by especial order, and the
question put, Shall the said bill pass? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill for the relief of John M'Mullin, of Caroline county, the bill to lay
out and make a public road in Worcester county, the bill to repeal part of an act to lay out, straighten and con-
firm, a certain road in Harford county, passed at November session, eighteen hundred and seven, the bill to re-
peal the act therein mentioned, the bill for the more effectual preservation of the breed of wild deer in Dorches-
ter county, the bill to re-value the work done on the Baltimore and York-town turnpike road, and the bill con-
firming the title of James Kent, Thomas Kent, Francis Kent, William Coleman, and the heirs of James Kent,
the elder, to the lands therein mentioned, severally endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. Also
the bill for the appointment by the people of the justices of the levy courts in the several counties of this state,
the bill for the relief of George Rutter, of Washington county, the bill for the relief of Jacob Gettig, of the
city of Baltimore, and the bill tor the relief and benefit of John Moor, of Somerset county, severally endorsed,
" will not pass. " Also 'he bill for opening a certain road in Baltimore county therein mentioned, and the bill
to authorise certain commissioners to lay off a town in Montgomery county, by the name of Brookeville, seve-
rally endorsed, " will pass with the proposed amendments; " which amendments were read the first and second
time by especial order, agreed to, and the bills ordered to be engrossed. And the engrossed bills from No. 1 to
42, inclusive, severally endorsed, " read and assented to. "

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Montgomery county, praying for a road from Patowmack river to Myer's
ferry, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Carroll, Mr. S. Thomas and Mr. Veatch, to consider and re-
port thereon.

Mr. Mitchell, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act giving power to the levy
court of Caecil county to examine and settle the claims of Zenas Wells against the said county; which was read
the first and second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The bill authorising the levy court of Harford county to levy a sum of money for the purpose of mending and
repairing the road therein mentioned, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

Mr, Harryman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to straighten and lay out
a road therein mentioned; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The report on the petition of Michael M'Can was read the second time, and the resolution therein contained
assented to.

The report on the petition of Young Wilkinson was read the second time, and the resolution therein contain-
ed assented to.

The report on the petition of John Imeson was read the second time, and the resolution therein contained as-
sented to.

Mr. Bland, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A further additional supplement to
the act, entitled, An act to provide for the administration of justice in the cases of crimes and misdemeanors in
the city and county of Baltimore, and for other purposes; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on
the table.

The house proceeded to the second reading of the resolutions relative to the inspection of public records,
and, on motion, the question was put, That the same be recommitted for amendment? Resolved in the affir-
mative.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill to establish and confirm certain acts done by justices of the peace in
Allegany county, the bill authorising the register of wills of Worcester county to deliver up to William Deles-
tatius the testament and last will of his father, Joseph Delestatius, lately deceased, the further supplement to
the act, entitled, Au act relating to servants and slaves, the bill for the relief of Jacob Penn, of Anne-Arundel
county, the bill for the relief and benefit of Jacob Bantz, of the city of Baltimore, and the bill giving power to
the levy court of Caecil county to examine and settle the claims of Zenas Wells against the said county, seve-
rally endorsed, " will pass. " Ordered to be engrossed. Also the further supplement to an act, entitled, An
