CHAP.
V.

An act repeal-
ed.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the act passed at November session, eighteen hundred and two,
entitled, An act to prevent hogs going at large in the town of Emmitsburgh, in Frederick county,
be and the same is hereby repealed.

CHAP. VI.

An ACT to empower the levy court of Prince-George's county to
assess and levy a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned,

Preamble,

WHEREAS Elizabeth Greer, of Prince-George's comity, by her petition to tins general as-
sembly has set forth, that she has a daughter, Anne Greer, now about twenty-one years of
age, a lunatic, and subject to fits, by the frequency of which, and falling into the fire, she has lost
both of her hands, and is thereby rendered incapable of feeding herself in her most lucid intervals,
and prays that a law may pass for the support of her said daughter out of the poor'shouse; and the
prayer of the said petitioner appearing reasonable, therefore

Money to be
levied, &c.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the levy court of Prince-George's
county shall be and are hereby directed and empowered, at their levy court annually, so long as they
may see cause, to assess and levy on said county a sum of money, not exceeding forty dollars, for
the support and maintenance of the said Anne Greer, daughter of the aforesaid Elizabeth Greer,
and that the same be collected and paid annually to the aforesaid Elizabeth Greer, or such other
person as the levy court may direct, by the coliector or collectors of Prince-George's county, agree-
ably to the order of the levy court aforesaid.

CHAP. VII.

Passed 31st of
Dec. 1803.

An ACT to authorise a lottery to raise a sum of money for the pur-
pose of finishing the Roman catholic church in Frederick-town,
in Frederick county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of the pastor of the Ro-
man catholic congregation of Frederick-town, and sundry other inhabitants of said town,
and its vicinity, that the Roman catholic church in said town is in an unfinished state, and have
prayed that a law may pass authorising a lottery to raise the sum of three thousand six hundred dol-
lars for the purpose of finishing said church; therefore,

A scheme may
be proposed,
&c.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for the
reverend John Duboil, Raphael Brooke, Henry Darnall, Joseph Smith and Leonard Jamison, or a
majority of them, to propose a scheme or schemes of a lottery for raising a sum of money, not ex-
ceeding three thousand six hundred dollars, and to sell and dispose of the tickets thereof; provided
the said reverend John Duboil, Raphael Brooke, Henry Darnall, Joseph Smith and Leonard Jamison,
or a majority of them, as shall undertake to act under this law, shall, before the sale or disposal of
any ticket or tickets in said lottery, give their joint and several bond to the state of Maryland, in
the penalty of seven thousand two hundred dollars, conditioned that they will well and truly apply
so much of the money arising therefrom, within six months after the drawing of said lottery shall
commence, as will satisfy the fortunate adventurers for prizes drawn by them, and after deducting
the necessary expences incurred in said lottery, shall, within two years from the time the drawing
of said lottery shall commence, cause the said money to be raised by this lottery to be expended and
applied towards the completion of the said church.

Bond to be
dodged, &c.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of said commissioners, before they act as
such, to lodge such bond in the cterk's office of Frederick county, there to be recorded, and upon
such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be commenced and prosecuted against the
obligors therein, or any of them, or their or any of their legal representatives, for any breach or
non-compliance with the condition of the same.

CHAP. VIII.

Dec. 1803.

Preamble.

An ACT authorising a lottery to raise a sum of money for the pur-
pose of finishing a house of worship at Ephesus, in Cascil county.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of the trustees, and
others, members of the presbyterian church at Ephesus, in Caecil county, that said church
is in an unfinished state, that their funds are insufficient to complete the same, and have prayed that
