 A Certain John Major Complain of of the afd
John Magoer for beating him  Ordered by the
Court here that a Note be Sent to the afd John
Magoer to ap.r afterwards at the Court conserning
assaulting the afd John Major And also that any Evid.cs That knows
any thing relating to the assault have notice to come likewise
   
    John Major mate of the Ship Ley appears in Court And
complains to this Court as foll. viz.t  To the Worshipfull Justices of
Kent County now Sitting the petition of John Major Most humbly
Sheweth
           
                        That as your pet.r is a Mate under Cap.t John Magoer
Commander of the Ship Ley who unlawfully & excuslessly
batt.rd your petitioner your petition.r Humb prayd your Worsp
will take the Case of your pet.r into your Consideration So as your
pet.r may be Secured from So evill a treatment in so doing your
pet.r as in duty Bound Shall ever pray &c.a          John Major

    Which petition by way of Complaint being read and heard in
Court  It is ordered that the Clk of this Court Send A note to
Inform the afd Commander and that he would come and Answer
the Same  And Ordered that he bring with him Charles Quick &
Anthony Comberford Evid.cs present at the assault the afd
Evidences being being bro.t & Sworn to the Grand Jury as also the
afd Complainant on which a presentment was returnd by We
of the Grand Jury do present Cap.t John Magier for an assault
and battery upon the body of John Major mate to the Said Cap.t
by Information of Charles Quick and Anthony Comeford p Edw.d
Worrell foreman    And thereupon the Same was framed
