Edward Harris
 Kent County fs  The Jurors for the right honourable the Lord
prop.ry That now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their Oath do
present that Edward Harris late of S.t Pauls Parish in the County
afd planter the tenth day of October Anno Dom. Seventeen
hundred thirty & one at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdicon of this Court
in and upon Robert Jackson in the peace of God and of the Said Lord prop.ry then and there
being with force and Arms an assault did make and him the Said Robert then and there
did beat wound and evilly treat So that of his life it was much despaired and other
harms to him then and there did to the great Damage of the Said Robert and against
the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry his good rule and dignity &c.a
    Test Robert Jackson John Ambrose  On the back of the preceeding Indictment
was endorsed as foll. viz.t A true bill Sam.l Wickes foreman

    And the afd Edward Harris in his proper person cometh and Saith that
he cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against him brought nor can he
Say but that he is guilty of the premisses as above by the Indictment afd is Sett
forth and thereupon Submits to the Court    Therefore it is Considered by
the Justices here to wit at a Court held for Kent County at the Court House in the
Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in March being the twenty
first day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty one  That the
afd Edward Harris pay the Sum of five hundred pounds of Tobacco to the right
honourable the Lord prop.ry &c.a as a fine for Committing the assault afd in form
afd Confest and also it is Considered by the Court here the Same day last
mentioned That the afd Edward Harris pay the Sum of three hundred ninety
Six pounds of Tobacco cost and charges accrued on the premisses afd to the
officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here that Joseph Young Gent. high Sherf of Said
County keep the afd Edward Harris in Custody untill the fine and fees afd
he Shall Satisfy &c.a

Thomas Clark to this Court &c.a  And now here at this Court to wit
on the third tuesday of March being the twenty first day of Said Month Anno Dom.
