then and there to have carnal knowledge of her body and to begett then and
there a bastard child on the body of her the same Elizabeth to the high
displeasure of Almighty God to the evil Example of all others in

good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly
in that case made and provided

    And at Kent County to wit at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County
on the third tuesday in March being the nineteenth day of Said Month Anno
Dom. one thousand seven hundred and thirty three came the afd his Ldsp
by his attry afd and the afd Indictment was continued untill the third
tuesday in June then next ensuing

    Att which said third Tuesday in June being the eighteenth day of
Said Month Anno Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty
four Came The afd his Lordship by his attry afd and the afd Elizabeth Maxfield
in her proper person and prayed the same cause might be Continued untill
the then next Court being the third tuesday in August

    Att which said third tuesday in August being the twentieth day of Said
Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty four Came again
the afd his Lordship by his said attorney and the afd Mary Maxfield
in her proper person comes and Saith that she cannot gainsay her
afd Indictment so as afd against her brought nor can she say but that
She is guilty as abovesaid as by the afd Indictment it is alledged
and thereupon submits to the Court        Therefore it is Considered
by the Justices here to wit the Same day and year last mentioned that
the afd Elizabeth Maxfield be find the sum of thirty Shillings Curr.t
money as a fine for Commiting the fornication afd in form afd
Confest and the sum of four hundred and Eleven        pounds of
Tobacco cost accrueing on the premises afd to the officers of this
Court

    Ordered by this Court that the same Elizabeth Maxfield be Committed
into the Custody of John Gresham Sher. of Kent County and that the
same Sherriff keep the same Eliz.a in Safe Custody untill the fees
afd be paid

    After which came Thomas Alfree of Kent County planter and
in his proper person Acknowledged himself Indebted to the Right
honrable the Lord prop.ry in the sum of Eight hundred pounds
of Tobacco Conditionally that if he do not pay the fees accruing on
the premises afd to the officers of this Court                                Ordered
