STATE OF MARYLAND
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT

PROCLAMATION OF THE GOVERNOR OF MARYLAND CONVENING THE

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND IN EXTRAORDINARY SESSION

AT ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND, ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 1950,

AT 10.00 O'CLOCK A. M.

WHEREAS, When State revenues exceed estimates of amounts
needed for governmental operations, a revision downward of taxes
is essential; and

WHEREAS, The State revenues have reached a point where such
downward revision is possible and desirable.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, WM. PRESTON LANE, JR., GOVERNOR OF THE

STATE OF MARYLAND, by virtue of the authority conferred and duly
imposed upon me by the Constitution of Maryland, do hereby call a
special or extraordinary session of the General Assembly of Mary-
land to consider amendments to the Sales Tax Law for revision
downward of that levy; said special or extraordinary session to
begin at 10 o'clock A. M. on Friday, November 10, 1950, at the State
Capitol, in the City of Annapolis, State of Maryland.

Given under my hand and the Great Seal of the State of Mary-
land. Done at the City of Annapolis, this 4th day of November,
in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty.

NOMINATIONS FOR SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE

On motion of Mr. Robinson of Baltimore City, duly seconded by
Mr. Luber, of Baltimore City, Mr. P. O. Wilkinson, of Prince
George's County, was placed in nomination for Speaker pro-tem.

There being no further nominations for the office of Speaker
pro-tem, Mr. Wilkinson was elected Speaker pro-tem by yeas and
nays as follows:
