OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE

To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:

I, THOMAS ELMO JONES, SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE
OF MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section
317 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), as amended by Chapter 168 of the Acts of 1943, DO
HEREBY CERTIFY, That at the General Election held in this State
on Tuesday, November 3, 1942, An Act, known as Chapter 718
of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1941, was submitted to
the voters of Carroll County for their adoption or rejection
under provisions of Chapter 718, said Act being:

An Act to add one new section to Article 27 of the Code
of Public General Laws of Maryland (1939 Edition),
title "Crimes and Punishments77, sub-title "Sabbath
Breaking", said new section to follow immediately after
Section 576 of said Article and to be designated as Sec-
tion 576A, to authorize the exhibition of motion pictures
within the boundaries of Carroll County between the
hours of 2 P. M. and 6 P. M. and after 9 P. M. on Sun-
days, to repeal all Public General and Public Local
Laws inconsistent herewith to the extent of any such
inconsistency and providing for a referendum vote
thereon.

AND i DO CERTIFY, That at said election 117 votes were cast
in favor of the adoption of said Chapter 718 of the Acts of 1941,
and 181 votes were cast against the adoption of said Act, in
the Fourteenth Election District of Carr oil. County, Maryland;
and a majority being against the adoption thereof, it was
thereby rejected and repealed by the voters of said District.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto sub-
scribed my name and affixed hereto my
(Secretary of Official Seal, at the City of Annapolis, this
State's Seal) 15th day of December, 1942.
