hereby swear (or affirm) that I will well and faithfully dis-
charge the duties of „............ _...... „................ in accordance with

the best of my ability and understanding", which said oath
shall be filed with the Council. If any person elected or
appointed to any office shall fail to take the oath or affirma-
tion required within ten days from the date of his election
or appointment, the office shall be declared vacant.

II
REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS

10. The said City is divided into five wards, the bounda-
ries and limits of which are defined to be as follows:

(For Ward Number One) Beginning in the center of the
Public Square and running with the middle of Washington
Street westwardly to the western boundary of the City,
thence northwardly with the western boundary of the City
to its intersection with the Chambersburg Division of the
Pennsylvania Railroad, thence southeastwardly with the
center of the Pennsylvania Railroad to its intersection with
the Western Maryland Railroad, thence following the cen-
ter of the Western Maryland Railroad, Baltimore Branch,
eastwardly to its intersection with the center line of Oak
Hill Avenue, thence south with the center line of Oak Hill
Avenue to its intersection with North Potomac Street,
thence with the center line of North Potomac Street to the
place of beginning.

(For Ward Number Two) Beginning in the center of the
Public Square and running thence westwardly with the
center line of Washington Street and the southern bound-
ary line of Ward No. 1 to the west boundary line of the
City, thence with the boundary line of the City south and
east to its intersection with South Potomac Street or the
Sharpsburg Pike, thence northernly along the center line
of South Potomac Street to the place of beginning.

(For Ward Number Three) Beginning in the center of
the Public Square and running southwardly through the
middle of South Potomac Street and the Sharpsburg Pike
to the southern boundary of the City, thence with the
boundary lines of the City eastwardly and northwardly to
intersect a straight line drawn through the center of East
Washington Street and East Washington Street Extended,
thence westwardly along the said line and the center line
of East Washington Street to the place of beginning.

(For Ward Number Four) Beginning in the center of
the Public Square and running with the center line of
