CHAPTER 25.

An act, entitled an act to authorise the Banks of the State
of Maryland to receive and pay out the Orders drawn
by the Baltimore and Ohio Rait Road Company, on the
Stock of the City of Baltimore.

CHAP. 26.

Passed Jan. 25,
1841.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the several Bank's of this State, be and
they are, hereby authorised to receive and pay out the Or-
ders, commonly known as the Stock Orders of the Balti-
more and Ohio Rail Road Company, which have been, or
may hereafter be drawn by said company, on the stock of
the city of Baltimore, which has been already created by
said city for the purpose of paying its subscription to said
company, of three million of dollars, authorised by the
act of the General Assembly, passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and thirty-five, chapter one hundred and
twenty-seven.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the president
and directors of the said company, shall at no time issue
any amount of such orders, beyond the amount of city
stock actually paid to them by the city, and deposited in
the hands of commissioners of the city, in trust for the hol-
ders of the orders; nor shall such commissioners, at any
time accept orders beyond the amount of stock actually
deposited in their hands in trust as aforesaid; and that for a
violation of these provisions, the said president and direc-
tors, and the said commissioners, respectively, shall be in-
dividually responsible to the full extent of their private
fortunes.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the right is hereby re-
served to the legislature, of altering or repealing this law
at any time.
