a justice of the peace, and that the said trustee and their
successors or a majority of them shall have full power to
Order and establish such rules and bye-laws for the govern-
ment of said school as they may deem proper.

CHAP. 177.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That all conveyances or
sales of property made to the trustees aforesaid, or any of
them for the use and benefit of said school before this act
of incorporation, shall be as valid to all intents and purposes
as if the said trustees had been incorporated at the time of
such conveyance or sale, and the trustees aforesaid, are
hereby invested with the same duties and powers in com-
plying with, and enforcing compliance with the terms of
such conveyances or sales, as if the same had been made
since this act of incorporation.

SEC. 5. Be it enacted, That the trustees of the said
school or a majority of them, be and they are hereby au-
thorised and empowered to elect at their discretion some
suitable person as Teacher of said school, and order and
establish such rules for the good government of said school,
as they or a majority of them may think right.

SEC. 6. Be it enacted, That nothing in this act be so con-
strued, as to authorise the said corporation to issue any note,
token, device, scrip, or other evidence of debt, to be used
as a currency.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 7. Be it enacted, That this act of incorporation
shall enure for thirty years from its passage, but that the Le-
gislature reserves to itself the right to alter or annul this act
at its pleasure.

CHAPTER 177.

 

An act authorizing the Levy Court of Frederick county
in their discretion, to levy a sum of money therein men-
tioned.

Passed March
4, 1843.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Levy Court of Frederick county be
and they are hereby authorized and empowered in their
discretion, to levy on the assessable property of said coun-
ty, a sum not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars, in three
equal annual instalments, for the purpose of building a
bridge over Owing's creek, near George Wolf's, on the
public road leading from Emmittsburg to Frederick.

SEC. 2. And be if enacted, That the Levy Court of
said county are hereby authorized and empowered to ap-
