LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Thomas F. Bowie, George W. Wilson, Horatio C. Scott,
Baruch Mullikin, William N. Dorsett, Thomas S. Iglehart,
Robert Bowie and Richard Bowie, who were elected, at
the last annual meeting of the society, officers for the pre-
sent year, be and they are hereby appointed managers of
the said society, and the said managers and their successors,
to be elected in the manner hereinafter mentioned, shall be
and they are hereby created a body politic, by the name
and style of the Prince George's Agricultural Society, by
which name and title they the said managers and their suc-
cessors shall have perpetual succession, and shall he able
and capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and be implead-
ed, answer and be answered in any court of law or equity;
to make and use a common seal and the same to alter and
change at pleasure; to purchase, take and hold to them and
their successors, for the use of the said society, any lands,
monies or other effects, not exceeding five thousand dollars,
and the same or any part thereof to invest, for the use of
the said society, in such manner as the said managers or a
majority thereof may determine, and to apply the profits
thereof to the promotion of the objects contemplated by
this act of incorporation.

CHAP. 56.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said managers and
their successors or a majority thereof, shall have full power
and authority to make rules and regulations, for the good
government of the said society, and the same to alter and
change at pleasure, and to award and dispose of the annual
subscriptions or profits in such premiums as may be best cal-
culated to promote the improvement of agriculture or
domestic manufactures in the State of Maryland.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That from and after the
passage of this act, the officers of the Prince George's
Agricultural Society, shall consist of a president, six vice
presidents, a corresponding secretary, a recording secre-
tary, a treasurer and an executive committee, who shall be
elected annually, at such time and in such manner as the
regulations and by-laws of the society shall prescribe, and
the officers, so elected, as well as those now in office, shall
discharge the duties thereof until others are appointed, and
shall have power to appoint such other officers as they may
deem necessary and expedient, in such manner as they may
think proper.

Officers.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
contained, shall be considered or construed to confer upon
said company banking privileges or the power to issue any
note in the form of a bank note or certificate payable to
bearer.
Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That nothing contained in
this act shall be construed to effect the right of the legisla-
