EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT

ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND

OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE

To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:

I, JOHN R. REEVES, SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE OF
MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section
210 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951
Edition) DO HEREBY CERTIFY, That at a Special Referendum
Election held in Prince George's County, Maryland, on
Monday, October 5, 1953, an Act known as Chapter 740 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1953 was
submitted to the voters of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th precincts
of the 17th Election District of Prince George's County,
Maryland, for their adoption or rejection under the pro-
visions of Chapter 740 of the Acts of 1953, said Act being as
follows:

"An Act to add a new section to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Prince George's County 1943 Edition),
being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title 'Prince George's County/ sub-title
'Fire Companies', said new section to be known as
Section 603B and to follow immediately after Section
603A of said Code, providing an annual fire tax
within a designated area of Prince George's County,
and relating generally to the disposition of said tax."

AND I DO CERTIFY, That at such election seven hundred
and seventy two (772) votes were cast in favor of the
adoption of Chapter 740 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of 1953 and fifty nine (59) votes were cast against the
adoption of the said Chapter 740, and a majority of the
votes being cast in favor of the adoption of the said Act, the
same has, therefore, been ratified by the voters of the 4th,
5th, 6th and 7th precincts of the 17th Election District of
Prince George's County.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto sub-
scribed my name and affixed my Official

State's Seal) of December, 1953.
