CHAP. 52.

Intermediate
terms.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the judge in the
said sixth judicial circuit, in his discretion, may appoint
intermediate terms between the Circuit court terms in
the respective counties of said judicial circuit, for the
transaction of equity business, to which said terms pro-
cess shall be returnable as well as to the stated terms of
the Circuit court.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect and go into operation from the date of its pas-
sage.

CHAPTER 52.

AN ACT entitled, an Act to change the time of
Electing Representatives of this State in the Con-
gress of the United States.

Time chang-
ed.

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the next election of Representatives

of this State in the Congress of the United States, shall
be on the first Wednesday of November, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three,
and on the same day in every second year thereafter,
unless there should be a special meeting of Congress,
called by the President of the United States, to be hold-
en previous to such day, and after the expiration of the
term of service of said representatives, in which event
the Governor of Maryland shall, by proclamation, direct
such election to be held on a day therein named by
him, which said proclamation shall require at least twen-
ty days notice of each election to be given by the
sheriffs of the respective counties and city of Balti-
more.

cancy, special

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in case a vacancy
should occur, by death, resignation or otherwise, at such
a period as to make it necessary that a Representative
or Representatives in Congress, from this State, should
be chosen before the regular time appointed by law
for such election, then the Governor shall, by procla-
mation, direct that a special election be held to fill said
vacancy or vacancies, which said proclamation shall
require at least twenty days notice of such election, to
be given by the sheriffs of the respective counties or
city of Baltimore, composing the Congressional District
