SEC.2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect

CHAPTER 79
(House Bill 64)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 43 of
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Public Education", sub-title "State Superintendent of
Schools", increasing certain powers and responsibilities of the
State Superintendent of Schools.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 43 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition) be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
39.1. The State Superintendent of School shall exercise general
supervision over the Maryland School for the Deaf to the same extent
as before June 1, 1943, and shall lend such aid to the training schools
under the supervision of the Department of Public Welfare and under
the supervision of the State Department of Mental Hygiene, as may
be necessary to enable them to formulate appropriate courses of study
and training therein, and to make such courses coincide, so far as
practicable, with standards required in the public schools of this
State.
SEC.2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1958.
