AN ACT to repeal Sections 169 to 199, inclusive, of Article 56 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1954 Supple-
ment), title "Licenses", sub-titles "Public Passenger Motor Ve-
hicles" and "Public Freight Motor Vehicles", and to enact in lieu
thereof Sections 169 to 178, inclusive, of said Article 56, said new
sections to stand in the place and stead of the sections so repealed,
and to be under the new sub-title "Public Passenger and Freight
Motor Vehicles", partially revising said sections in order to remove
therefrom certain provisions transferred to the said Article 78
as contained in this Act, all relating generally to the regulation
of public passenger and public freight motor vehicles in this State.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 169 to 199, inclusive, of Article 56 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement), title
"Licenses", sub-titles "Public Passenger Motor Vehicles", be and
they are hereby repealed, and that Sections 169 to 178, inclusive, of
said Article 56, be and they are hereby enacted in lieu thereof, said
new sections to stand in the place and stead of the sections so
repealed, to be under the new sub-title "Public Passenger and
Freight Motor Vehicles", partially revising said sections in order
to remove therefrom certain provisions transferred to the said
Article 78 as contained in this Act, and to read as follows:
ARTICLE 56
Public Passenger and Freight Motor Vehicles
169. (Registration of vehicles.)
No motor vehicle for which a permit is required from the Public
Service Commission under Article 78, Section 31, shall be registered
by the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles except in accordance with
this sub-title.
170. (Application required; conditions.)
Any applicant for registration of such a vehicle shall present to
the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles the permit required by the
Public Service Commission law, at the time prescribed by law for
making application for registration tags in the case of all other
motor vehicles, and shall make application in writing for registra-
tion with the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles as provided in this
subtitle.
171. (Contents of Application.)
The application for registration of every such vehicle shall state,
in addition to such other information as may be required by law:
(a) the route on which such vehicle is to be used; (b) whether
