tenor, except in being for interest payable on the first
day of January, in the year eighteen hundred and
fifty-five, of bond number seventy-five, numbered
fourteen hundred and twelve to fourteen hundred and
sixty-nine inclusive, making altogether, two hundred
and six coupons, for fifteen dollars each, and amount-
ing in all to the sum of three thousand and ninety
dollars. And that said package of coupons was lost
by the destruction of the said Steamer Arctic, and her
mails; and it is right that the said coupons should be
paid to the rightful holders thereof,

SECTION 1. Be it therefore enacted by the General
Assembly of Maryland, That the Treasurer of the State
upon the warrant of the Comptroller of the Treasury,
pay to Messrs. Oelrichs and Lurman of the city of Bal-
timore, the sum of three thousand and ninety dollars,
being the amount of the said coupons alleged to have

been lost in the Steamer Arctic: Provided, The Treas-
urer aforesaid shall be satisfied by such proofs as he
may deem necessary and proper, that the said coupons
have actually been lost as alleged, and that said Oel-
richs and Lurman, are the parlies entitled to payment
thereof.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 3.

In force.

AN ACT for the increase of the Capital Stock of the
Baltimore Copper Smelting Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the first day of April
next, the Capital Stock of the Baltimore Copper Smelt-
ing Company, may be augmented to a sum not ex-
ceeding six hundred thousand dollars, the present capi-
tal being four hundred thousand dollars, as provided in
the third section of the charter of said corporation,
passed at December session, eighteen hundred and forty-
nine, pursuant to the provisions made in section sixth of
said charter.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
