LAWS OF MARYLAND.

State, and to return the said panel to said ad-
journed term of the Circuit Court aforesaid, in the
manner in which sheriffs are now required by law
to return jurors to the regular terms of the courts
of this State.

Judge to com-
pel attendance
of jurors.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That the judge of said
court shall have power to compel the attendance
of all jurors summoned by said sheriff to said ad-
journed term, by attachment, or otherwise, as by
law provided.

Grand jury to
be drawn from
panel.

SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That said court be au-
thorised to direct its clerk to draw the grand jury
from said panel of jurors so returned by the said
sheriff, as now provided by law, and the jurors
remaining in the panel shall serve as petit jurors,
as now provided by law.

In force.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, This act shall take
effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 4.

Passed Janu-
ary 20, 1858.

AN ACT confirmatory of the act, passed at Janu-
ary session, eighteen hundred and fifty six, ap-
propriating the sum of one hundred dollars as
compensation to Henry Hagan, of Allegany
county, for his services in arresting Miller, the
murderer of Doctor Hadel and Mr. Graff.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, At January session, eighteen hundred
and fifty-six, an act was passed, (see House
Journal, pages 802 and 803, and Senate Jour-
nal, pages 498 and 499,) appropriating the sum
of one hundred dollars as compensation to
Henry Hagan, of Allegany county, for arrest-
ing Miller, the murderer of Dr. Hadel and Mr.
Graff, and either from accident or neglect, the
said bill was lost before being placed in the
hands of the engrossing Clerk of the House of
Delegates, and was therefore never enrolled,
and on that account the Comptroller of the
