the consent of their master or mistress.

Treasurer to
bo appointed.

SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
missioners or a majority of them, shall have full
power and authority to appoint a Treasurer for the
said corporation, who shall give bond to said cor-
porate body, with security to he approved by the
Commissioners or a majority of them in such pe-
nalty as they shall fix, conditioned for the faith-
ful performance of his duty as Treasurer; and he
shall receive and pay any moneys according to the
to the ordinance passed by the said corporation,
or a majority of them.

Fines— how
applied.

SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That all fines and
forfeitures imposed by the said Commissioners, by
virtue of any law or ordinance be applied in such
manner for the use of said village as may be from
time to time, by ordinance directed.

No compensa-
tion allowed.

SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
missioners, to be hereafter elected under the provi-
sions of this act, shall receive no compensation
for their services.

Not to exer-
cise banking
privileges.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That nothing here-
in contained shall be so construed as to authorise
the corporation hereby created, to issue any de-
vice, token, note, certificate or evidence of debt to
be used as currency; and the Legislature reserves
the right to amend or repeal this charter when
the same shall be deemed advisable.

In force.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That this act Khali
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the town of Western-
port in Allegany county.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the citizens of the town of
Westernport, in Allegany county, shall be and
