Baltimore.
No. 15.
Resolved, That all proceedings on the part of the state against Benjamin
Gaither, late sheriff of Anne Arundel county, and his securities, shall be stayed,
Provided, the said Gaither shall satisfy the treasurer of the western shore or
the state agent, that the amount due by him to the state shall be paid on or be
fore the first day of November, eighteen hundred and twenty-five.

Kenzie.

No. 16.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be, and he is hereby au-
thorised and required to pay to Doctor Colin M'Kenzie of the city of Baltimore,
the surviving partner of Smith and M'Kenzie, or to his order, out of any unap-
propriated money in the treasury, the amount of the fifth installment of the
loan authorised to be negotiated by them on the credit of the state, under the
resolution of the 36th January 1817, for the improvement of the Baltimore Hos-
pital, when that instalment becomes due; Provided, that before such payment
said M'Kenzie give bond to the state with penalty in double the amount, and
with security to be approved of by the said treasurer, conditioned for the pay-
ment over by M'Kenzie of the amount of such instalment to the owner or own-
ers of the loan aforesaid, said bond to be filed in the records of the court of ap-
peals for the western shore, and an office copy thereof under seal to be as good
and sufficient evidence in any suit which may be brought on the same in any
court in this state, as the original would be if produced and proved.

No. 17.

Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the treasurer of the.
western shore be, and he is hereby authorised and empowered to subscribe
either in person or by attorney to the stock of the Chesapeake and Delaware
Canal Company, agreeably to the directions of a resolution passed at the pre-
sent session.

Jones.

No. 18.
Resolved, That all proceedings on the judgment obtained at the suit of the
state against Benjamin G. Jones, formerly sheriff of Harford county and his se-
curities, be, and the same are hereby suspended until the first day of Novem-
ber, eighteen hundred and twenty five; Provided, that the said Benjamin G.
Jones, shall on or before the first day of November next, pay one half of the
judgment aforesaid, with six per cent interest, and the remaining half, with in-
terest and any additional cost that may accrue on or before the first day of No-
vember, eighteen hundred and twenty-five, Provided, that if the first payment
aforesaid, is nut punctually made at the time herein specified, then this resolu-
tion shall be considered null and void.
And be it further resolved, That John For wood, John orris, Jr. and William
D. Lee, be, and they are hereby directed to credit Benjamin G. Jones on the
judgment at the time it was obtained against him by the state, with the amount
of any fines and forfeitures or other items charged to him by the state, which
he may not have received, or which may have been paid into the treasury by
subsequent sheriffs, on his satisfying them that he is entitled to the said credits,
and they are hereby directed to make a return of their proceedings to the trea-
surer of the western shore on or before the first day of September next.

Resolved, That the committee of claims be, and they are hereby directed to
examine the claim of Ramsay Waters, register of the court of chancery, on ac-
count of services performed by him under a resolution passed at the last ses-
sion of the legislature, relative to chancery records, ana that they make him
such allowance therefor as they may deem reasonable and just.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, pay to the Reverend
Mr. Griffith, or his order, the sum of one hundred dollars, and to the Rev.
Doctor Rafferty, or his order, the sum of one hundred dollars, out of any unap-
propriated money in the treasury, for their services as chaplains during the pre-

No. 21.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, pay to William Gudgeon,
of Kent county, or to his order during life, in quarter annual payments, the half
pay of a private, as a further remuneration for his services during the revolu-
tionary war. And that he also pay to said Gudgeon, the sum now standing to
his credit on the books of the treasurer, agreeably to the report of the treasurer
made to the present session of the legislature.
