to be laid off in manner aforesaid, they or a majority of them shall
cause to be erected thereon, a good and substantial wharf of such
dimensions as they or a majority of them may deem most suitable
and proper, and when the said wharf shall have been erected, it
shall be deemed and taken to be a public landing and wharf, and
shall be kept up and repaired, as all other public wharves in said
county now are.

6. And be it enacted, That when the said commissioners or a ma-
jority of them shall have caused the said piece of ground to be
laid off as a public landing, and shall have ascertained the amount
of the damages sustained by any person or persons in consequence
of the establishment of the said landing, and shall also have de-
termined upon the price at which they will contract for the building
of the said wharf, they or a majority of them shall report their
proceedings to the levy court of Kent county, and the said court is
hereby authorised and required to levy on the assessable property
in said county, such sum or sums as. will pay the damages afore-
said, and all other expenses incurred in establishing said landing
place, and in erecting thereon the said wharf, and the said sum or
sums shall be levied and collected as other county charges are le-
vied and collected, and shall be paid over to the persons entitled
thereto.

7. And be it enacted, That each of the said commissioners be-
fore he proceeds to act, shall take an oath before some justice of
the peace for Kent county, that he will faithfully, impartially, and
to the best of his skill and judgment perform the duties hereby
imposed upon him, and each of them shall be allowed, for the per-
formance of the said duties, the sum of two dollars for every day
he attends in the discharge thereof.

8. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the said com-
missioners, or some one of them, to give fifteen days notice of their
first meeting to the person or persons owning the premises whereon
the said landing is to be established.

9. And be it enacted, That if upon an examination of the said
road and landing and the adjoining shores of Langford's Bay, the
said commissioners or a majority of them, shall be of opinion that
a public wharf and landing can be established at some other place
on the waters of said Langfords Bay, with more advantage to the
people of Kent county, in. such case it shall and may be lawful for
the said commissioners or a majority of them, to survey, make and
bound, for a public landing at or near such other place, a piece of
ground not exceeding in quantity one acre, and to locate, mark and
hound, a road from thence to the public road of said county, lead-
ing to Rock Hall, which road shall not run through the buildings,
orchards, yards or gardens, of any person or persons, without the
previous assent in writing of such person or persons.

10. And be it enacted, That if in the opinion of the said com-
missioners or a majority of them, the public convenience shall re-
quire a public road and landing to be established at some other
place than the Ship Yard, they, or a majority of them, shall have
the same powers, and perform the same duties, and in all respects
proceed in the same manner in relation to the said road, landing
and wharf, at such other place as in this act is directed in relation
