Payment of
members, &c.

No. 1.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, pay to the several
numbers of the general assembly and the officers thereof, also to the electors
of president and vice president of the United States, the amount of the seve-
ral sums due to them, and for which they obtain certificate from the chair-
man of the committee of claims.

Lafayette.

Invitation.

No. 2.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That in common with
their fellow citizens throughout the United States, they entertain the highest
respect for the character of General Lafayette, whose life has been passed in
a continued and arduous struggle for the support of civil liberty, and they
are also deeply impressed with a grateful remembrance of his voluntary and
valuable services, during the revolutionary war
Resolved, That in- accordance with these feelings, a joint committee of both
branches, shall be appointed to convey to General Lafayette, an invitation
from the legislature to visit the seat of government, at such time as may be
most convenient to him, during the present session, and that with committee
shall be authorised to make all necessary arrangements for his accommoda-
tion, and draw upon the treasurer for such sum as may be required for that
purpose.

Charles Jones

No. 3.
Resolved, That further proceedings in Somerset county court, against
Charles Jones, late sheriff, of said county, on account of defaults entered
against him, in two cases against George Dashiell, the former sheriff and his
securities, be suspended until the first day of January next.

Stock in the
Bank of Bal-
timore.

No. 4.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, be, and he is hereby
authorised and required, in behalf of the state, forthwith to subscribe, and
to make the necessary payment for the whole number of shares remaining in
the bank of Baltimore, for which the state is entitled to subscribe, under the
charter of said bank.

Payment to
Farmers
Bank.

No. 5.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, he and he is hereby
authorised and directed, forthwith to pay to the farmers bank of Maryland,
the sum of eighty thousand dollars, it being a part of the debt due that insti-
tution on the loan of eighteen hundred and twenty one; out of any unappro-
priated money in the treasury; and that the certificate redeemed, be by him
immediately cancelled.

Payment to
E. Lynn.

No. 6.
Resolved, That whatever balance may have been remaining due to the late
Eleanor Lynn, (who died on the twenty third day of April, eighteen hundred
and twenty four,) the widow of Col. John Lynn, on the pension list of this
state, be paid by the treasurer of the western shore to David Richardson,
who intermarried with Elizabeth, out of the daughters of the deceased, and
Jane Lynn, another of her daughters, they being the only heirs and represen-
tatives of the said deceased.

Canal bill to
be transmit-
ted.

No. 7.

Resolved, That his excellency the governor be and he is hereby reques-
ted, to transmit forthwith, copies of the act incorporating the Chesapeake
and Ohio canal company, passed by the legislature of Maryland at its pre-
sent session, to the president of the senate and speaker of the house of repre-
sentatives of the congress of the United States, requesting that it may be
submitted to their respective bodies; and copies to the governors of Virginia
and Pennsylvania, with a request that they will submit the same to their re-
spective Legislatures.
