Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Natural Re-
sources", sub-title "Water Resources", said new section to be known
as Section 669A, to follow immediately after Section 669 of said
Article, and to read as follows:
669A. It shall be unlawful for the State or any agency thereof, any
person or persons, partnership, association, private or public corpora-
tion, county, municipality or other political sub-division of the State
to construct, re-construct, change, OR make an addition to or repair
any conduit, pipe line, wire cable, trestle or other device, structure or
apparatus, in, under, through or over the bed or waters of the Potomac
River, without obtaining a permit therefor from the Department of
Geology, Mines and Water Resources. The obtaining, use and holding
of such a permit shall be subject severally to the provisions concern-
ing permits found elsewhere in this sub-title.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to add Sections 37A, 37B, 37C, 37D, 37E and 37F to Article
78 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement), title
"Public Service Commission Law", sub-title "Public Service Com-
panies", sub-heading, "Railroad Companies", to follow immediately
after Section 37 thereof, relating to Employers and Employees of
Railroad; providing for the regulation of health and safety condi-
tions in places of railroad employment, and further providing a
penalty for violation thereof.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Sections 37A, 37B, 37C, 37D, 37E, and 37F, be and they are
hereby added to Article 78 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956
Supplement), title, "Public Service Commission Law", sub-title
"Public Service Companies", sub-heading, "Railroad Companies",
said new sections to follow immediately after Section 37 thereof,
relating to Employers and Employees of Railroad; and all to read as
follows:
37A. (Duties of the Commission). For the purpose of protecting
the health and safety of employees of railroads, the Public Service
Commission, hereinafter called the commission, shall prescribe stand-
ards of health and sanitation requiring:
1. The installation and maintenance by railroads of sanitary
