years, next preceding the date of their commission, to act as phy-
sicians of the Police Department of said city, under such rules and
regulations as the said Commissioner may from time to time pre-
scribe for their conduct; one of the said physicians shall be desig-
nated by the said Commissioner as the chief physician.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
on June 1, 1958.

CHAPTER 841
(House Bill 457)

AN ACT to add Section 97 (f) to Article 52 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1956 Supplement), title "Justices
of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates System", to follow im-
mediately after Section 96 (e) thereof, providing that in Somerset
County a portion of the fines, penalties and forfeitures collected
in the courts of justices of the peace in cases involving violation
of certain gambling laws shall be used for the augmentation of the
library of the Circuit Court of Somerset County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 97 (f) be and it is hereby added to Article 52 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1956 Supplement),
title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates System",
to follow immediately after Section 96 (e) thereof, and to read as
follows:

97 (f). In Somerset County one-half of all fines, penalties and
forfeitures collected in the courts of justices of the peace in cases
involving a violation of the gambling laws which are contained in
Article 27 of this Code, sub-title "Gaming", shall be disposed of as
provided in Section 5 of Article 38 of this Code as amended from
time to time.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
