Whereas, In view of the close proximity of the open areas over
the Atlantic Ocean to the Delmarva area, it is the sense of the General
Assembly that these jet flights faster than the speed of sound could
as well be made over the waters of the Atlantic rather than over the
towns and farming areas of the Delmarvia Peninsula, now, therefore,
be it

Resolved, That the members of the General Assembly of Maryland
urge the United States Navy and Air Force to request their pilots
not to exceed the speed of sound, except in cases of emergency, during
military jet flights over the Delmarva Peninsula and thereby cause
the disturbance resulting from the passage of the plane through the
sound barrier to the annoyance and inconvenience of the people of the
Peninsula and the damage to their property, and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State be instructed to send copies
of this Resolution to the Department of Defense, Washington, D. C.

(House Joint Resolution 27)

House Joint Resolution requesting the Governor of the State of Mary-
land to appoint a committee to study the question of a State bonus,
the ways and means of financing said bonus, establishment of a
State Veterans' home for disabled veterans, their widows and
dependents, and a review of existing state services to Maryland
Veterans and their dependents.

Whereas, It has been brought to the attention of the General As-
sembly of Maryland that a situation has existed in the State of Mary-
land relative to the past, present, and future welfare of the Veterans
of the State of Maryland as expressed by the various Veterans'
organizations in the State of Maryland; and

Whereas, Past directives of the American Legion, the V.F.W.,
the D.A.V., the Amvets, Catholic War Vets, and World War I veterans
have instructed these organizations to support a Veteran's bonus, or
a referendum thereof, some of which proposals required a refer-
endum; and

Whereas, Sufficient knowledge does not presently exist concern-
ing either the needs or financing of said bonus payment and related
veteran's problems; now, therefore, be it
