thereof, to stand in the place and stead of the section so repealed,
relating to the borrowing power of the County Commissioners of
Queen Anne's County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 184A of Article 18 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Queen Anne's County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", as enacted by Chapter 1 of the Acts of
1933, be and the same is hereby repealed and a new Section 184A
enacted in lieu thereof to stand in the place and stead of the section
so repealed, to read as follows:

184A. (Borrowing Power)

(a)  The County Commissioners shall have, and is hereby given,
express power and authority to borrow from time to time, if and as
needed, such sum or sums of money, not to exceed in the aggregate
at any time or times the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Dollars
($300,000.00) for the purpose of paying the general operating ex-
penses or small capital improvements of the County or any of its de-
partments, and to pledge the faith and credit of the County therefor,
subject only to the provisions of this section.

(b)  Any sum or sums of money so borrowed by the authority of
this section together with the interest thereon, shall be repaid, if
available, from the taxes levied, collected or due for the current year
during which such sum or sums were borrowed, and/or from any
other income belonging to the general funds of the County or any of
its departments (if the money so borrowed was expended by or for
the benefit of any such department). If all such moneys shall not be
sufficient to pay such sum or sums of money so borrowed, together
with all interest due thereon, the County Commissioners are author-
ized to levy a special tax against all the assessable property in the
County sufficient to repay such sum or sums of money, together with
all interest due thereon, to be collected with the other taxes levied for
the following year or years (but not longer than five years).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
