SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE
AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVATION
OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND HAVING BEEN
PASSED BY A YEA AND NAY VOTE SUPPORTED BY
THREE-FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS ELECTED TO EACH OF
THE TWO HOUSES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, THE
SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM THE DATE OF ITS
PASSAGE.

(House Bill 870)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 713 (e), (f), (h), (i), (j), (1), (m),
(r), (s), (t), (v), (w), (x), 714 and 715 (c), (d), (e) of Article
66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Natural Resources", sub-title "Oysters and Clams", and to enact
new Sections 713 (e), (h), (i), (j), (1), (m), (r), (s), (t), (v)
and 714 in lieu thereof, to stand in the place and stead of the sec-
tions so repealed, relating to the times and places for the taking
of, and minimum size limits for, soft shell clams in the waters of
this State; providing license requirements for taking said clams;
providing for the levy of an inspection tax on said clams; providing
for penalties for the violation of these provisions; providing spe-
cific conditions for taking said clams in Anno Arundel, Queen
Anne's and Talbot counties
TALBOT COUNTY; and relating gen-
erally to soft shell clams in this State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 713 (e), (f), (h), (i), (j), (1), (m), (r), (s), (t),
(v), (w), (x), 714 and 715 (c), (d), (e) of Article 66C of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Natural Resources",
sub-title "Oysters and Clams", be and they are hereby repealed, and
that new Sections 713 (e), (h), (i), (j), (1), (m), (r), (s), (t), (v)
and 714 be and they are hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in
the place and stead of the sections so repealed, and to read as follows:

713.

(e) Each boat or rig shall have but one conveyor or elevator for
taking soft shell clams, not to exceed nineteen (19) feet in length,
measured from axle to axle. Each boat or rig may be equipped with
not more than one blade and one water manifold.,
THE WIDTH
BETWEEN THE EXTERIOR JETS ATTACHED THERETO
NOT TO EXCEED 36 INCHES. The water jet pipe at each
end of the manifold shall be set parallel to the median vertical
longitudinal plane of the dredge, or inward toward the center thereof.
