1476                             Joint Resolutions

Whereas, It is desirable, considering the impending approach of
the centennial of the Battle of Antietam in 1962, that the Battle-
field site be enlarged expeditiously by the purchase of additional
available property; and'

Whereas, Any prompt acquisition is effectively stymied by the
restrictive language in the Act of Congress; now therefore be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Mary-
land Delegation in the Congress of the United States is urged to
support the enactment of H.R.1805 to remove restrictive language
on the acquisition of property for the Antietam Battlefield in
Washington County, Maryland; and be it further

Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be sent to Senators Beall
and Butler, Representatives Brewster, Fallon, Foley, Friedel,
Garmatz, Johnson and Lankford.

Approved May 5, 1959.
