J. MILLARD TAWES, Governor 527

1961, Ch. 266—Worcester County

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT

ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND

OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE OF MARYLAND

To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:

I, LLOYD L. SIMPKINS, SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE OF
MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), DO
HEREBY CERTIFY, that at a Special Election held in Worcester County,
Maryland, on May 23, 1961, an Act known as Chapter 266 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1961 was submitted
to the voters of said Worcester County for their adoption or rejection
under the provisions of Chapter 266 of the Acts of 1961, said Act
being as follows:

"An Act to add a new Section 251A to Article 27 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Crimes and
Punishments", sub-title "Gaming", to follow immediately after
Section 251 thereof, authorizing the conduct and operation of
games and bingo in Worcester County, providing for the ap-
pointment of a board to administer this law, specifying the
powers and duties of this board and relating generally to the
playing of bingo in Worcester County, and providing for a
referendum thereon; and further providing that if a majority
of the voters of the county participating in said election vote
'against bingo', then this Act shall be applicable only in such
election district or districts of the county, if any, in which elec-
tion district or districts a majority of the voters participating
in said election shall have voted 'for bingo'. "

AND I DO CERTIFY, that at said election held in Worcester County
602 votes were cast in said county in favor of the adoption of Chapter
266 of the Acts of 1961 and 639 votes were cast against the adoption
thereof, and a majority of votes being cast against the adoption of
Chapter 266 of the Acts of 1961, the same has failed of ratification
for the county as a whole, but that 370 votes having been cast in
favor of the adoption of Chapter 266 and 63 cast against the
adoption thereof in the 5th and 10th election districts, the same
has been ratified insofar as those individual election districts are
concerned and the provisions of the Act shall therefore be applicable
in the fifth and tenth election districts.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my Official Seal at the City of
Annapolis, this 27th day of June, 1961.

(Secretary of
State's Seal)

LLOYD L. SIMPKINS,

Secretary of State.
