title "Motor Vehicles", subtitle "Administration-Registration-
Titling", authorizing the Department of Motor Vehicles to micro-
film records and also authorizing the Department to destroy certain
of its records from time to time.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 16 of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
(1957 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles", subtitle, "Administration-
Registration-Titling", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

Section 16.

The Commissioner may microfilm any records of the Department
at any time he deems proper or
destroy any records of the Department,
which have been maintained on file for three (3) years, which he may
deem obsolete and of no further service in carrying out the powers
and duties of the Department except records of criminal and motor
vehicle violations which show refusal, [suspension, revocation and/or
cancellation of license or registration as the result of a conviction.
Motor vehicle registration records and all records in the Financial
Responsibility Division, may be destroyed after three (3) years.]
or revocation of license and/or registration as a result of a conviction
under the provisions of Section 104(a) of this Article, showing man-
datory refusal or revocation. If an operator's or chauffeur's record
shows only one suspension and there have been no subsequent motor
vehicle convictions for a period of ten years, the driving record of
such driver may be destroyed. Driving records of deceased persons
may be destroyed three (3) years after the date of death shown on
any official notice of death which has been received by the Depart-
ment,

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 108 (12)
of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supple-
ment), title "Public Education", sub-title "CHAPTER 8. TEACH-
ERS' CERTIFICATES, SALARIES AND PENSIONS", SUB-
HEADING "Teachers' Retirement System", amending the laws
concerning crediting of interest to the accounts of members in
active service under the Teachers' Retirement System and relating
generally to the granting of interest on the contributions of mem-
bers in active service.

Explanation: Italics indicate new matter added to existing law.

[Brackets] indicate matter stricken from existing law.
