or transacts other business of the Board plus his actual expenses
incurred in relation thereto.

(b)   The departmental members of the Board shall be the Director
of the Department of Chesapeake Bay Affairs, The Director of the
Department of Game and Inland Fish, The Director of the Depart-
ment of Forests and Parks, The Director of the Maryland Geological
Survey and the Director of the Department of Water Resources.

(c)   The ex officio members of the Board shall be the Chief of the
Bureau of Environmental Hygiene of the State Department of
Health, the Director of the Natural Resources Institute of the Uni-
versity of Maryland, and the Chairman of the State Soil Conserva-
tion Committee.

(d)   The appointive members of the Board shall consist of the
Director of the Chesapeake Bay Institute of the Johns Hopkins Uni-
versity and seven other members appointed by the Governor,

AND WITH THE ADVICE AND CONSENT OF THE SENATE,
from the geographic areas of the State as herein designated; one mem-
ber who shall reside in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area, which shall
consist of Baltimore City, and Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Harford
counties; one member who shall reside in Central Maryland, which
shall consist of Carroll, Frederick and Howard counties; one member
who shall reside in Western Maryland, which shall consist of Alle-
gany, Garrett and Washington counties; one member who shall re-
side in Southern Maryland, which shall consist of Calvert, Charles
and St. Mary's counties; one member who shall reside in the Wash-
ington Metropolitan Area, which shall consist of Montgomery and
Prince George's counties; one member who shall reside on the
Eastern Shore north of the Choptank River, which shall consist of
Cecil, Kent, Queen Annes, Talbot and Caroline counties; and one
member who shall reside on the Eastern Shore south of the Choptank
River, which shall consist of Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset and
Worcester counties. Appointments made from the designated geo-
graphic areas shall be made for terms of four years. Of the initial
appointments, two shall be for one year, two for two years, two for
three years, and one for four years. Those appointive members
serving on the Board prior to June 1, 1964, are eligible for appoint-
ment to the Board as herein created. No member of any commission
of, or employee of, any agency represented on the Board by a depart-
mental or ex officio member shall be eligible to hold office as an
appointive member of the Board. The Governor may remove any
appointive member for cause, and any vacancy which may occur
from the removal, death or resignation of an appointive member
shall be filled for the unexpired portion of the term of office in which
the vacancy occurs. Appointive members are eligible for reappoint-
ment. Each appointive member shall receive a per diem allowance
as provided in the annual State budget for each day on which he
meets with the Board or is called upon by the Chairman to transact
other business of the Board plus expenses incurred in relation thereto.

(a) The Chairman shall preside over all meetings of the Board,
shall serve
as a member of the Governor's Advisory Council as pro-
vided in Article 41 of this Code, and shall represent the Board of
Natural Resources at hearings or meetings of the Congress of the
