CHAPTER 175
(House Bill 33)

AN ACT to repeal Section 323 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Natural Resources", subtitle
"Fish and Fisheries", subheading "Part 3. Crabs, Lobster and
Terrapins", to repeal prohibitions on the unlicensed taking or
catching of soft shell crabs in the Patuxent River.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 323 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Natural Resources", subtitle "Fish and Fish-
eries", subheading "Part 3. Crabs, Lobster and Terrapins", be and
it is hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1964.

Approved April 7, 1964.

CHAPTER 176
(House Bill 34)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 700 (a)
and (b) and 702(a) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition and 1963 Supplement), title "Natural Re-
sources", subtitle "Oysters and Clams", to revise the requirements
for licensing of persons to take or catch oysters by tongs or patent
tongs or by dredging, and relating to the taking or catching of
oysters in the State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 700(a) and (b) and 702(a) of Article 66C of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1963 Supplement), title
"Natural Resources", subtitle "Oysters and Clams", be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

700.

(a) Any [male] person [between] over the age of fourteen
[and sixty-five] who shall engage in the taking or catching of oysters
by tongs or patent tongs from any natural oyster bar of this State,
except in the waters of Worcester County, or who shall be employed
on any tong boat shall first obtain a license as prescribed herein,
provided, however, that no [such person shall be deemed to be in
default under the provisions of this subsection until the lapse of thirty
days from the beginning of the season where he shall take or catch
such oysters; and provided further, that no] license shall be required
for the taking or catching of oysters from the waters of Worcester
County. In order to take or catch oysters in the waters of Wicomico
County or Dorchester County, a person who is sixty-five years of
age or over must have resided within the limits of Wicomico County
