1965, Ch. 493—Code County Home Rule

I, Lloyd L. Simpkins, Secretary of State of the State of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 (c) of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), Do
Hereby Certify, that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 8, 1966, an Act known as Chapter 493 of the
Acts of 1965, was submitted to the voters of the State of Maryland,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of the
State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:

AN ACT to propose an amendment to the Constitution of Mary-
land by the addition of a new Article 11F thereto, title "Home
Rule for Code Counties," to follow immediately after Article
HE, providing an optional system of home rule powers for
certain counties in this State; establishing the procedure for
becoming a code county; defining the powers of these counties
and of the General Assembly for enacting, amending, or re-
pealing certain public local laws; relating generally to powers
of home rule for the counties here defined as "code counties";
and submitting this amendment to the qualified voters of the
State for adoption or rejection.

and I DO certify that at said election 274,353 votes were cast in
favor of the adoption of Chapter 493 of the Acts of 1965, and 170,472
votes were cast against adoption of said Chapter 493 of the Acts of
1965, the said Act has therefore been ratified by a majority of the
qualified voters of the State of Maryland.

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my official seal at the City of Annapolis
this 9th day of December, 1966.
