1576                            JOINT RESOLUTIONS

Whereas, The 1967 Tourism Committee of the Legislative Council
was composed almost wholly of new members, and

Whereas, This committee's first year of work was devoted pri-
marily to the diligent task of getting a clear overall view of the
tourist picture in Maryland; and

Whereas, It has found several areas which need specific studies,
and if it continues in existence it will have the time to study these
matters and come up with recommendations, which will result in a
great service to the State, now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Maryland General Assembly, That the Legislative
Council is requested to continue its Tourism Committee; and be it
further

Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the Chairman
and Secretary of the Legislative Council.

(House Joint Resolution 12)

House Joint Resolution requesting the Governor to proclaim the
week of June 10-16 as "Fine Arts Week."

Whereas, The Fine Arts Festival is scheduled to take place on
June 10 through June 16 at Dockside, Annapolis, Maryland; and

Whereas, There will be on display selected juried paintings,
sculpture and other art works of adults and junior and senior high
school students of Maryland; and

Whereas, There will also be presented poetry reading and plays,
which shall include comedies and light operas; and

Whereas, There will be a two hour concert by the noted trumpet
player, Louis Armstrong, on Saturday, June 15, at the Naval
Academy Field House; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That a re-
quest be submitted to the Governor to declare the week of June 10-16
as "Fine Arts Week" and that the Department of Tourism give maxi-
mum support to this cause; and, be it further

Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Governor
and to the Department of Tourism.
