SPECIAL SESSION

Annapolis, Maryland, July 30, 1973.

State of Maryland, to Wit:

This being the day described by Section 16 of Article II, and by
Section 14 of Article III of the Constitution for the Special and Extraordi-
nary meeting of the General Assembly of Maryland at 11:00 o'clock A.M.:

James P. Mause, Chief Clerk of the House of Delegates for the 1973
Session, called the House to order.

Prayer was offered by Delegate L. Reed.

Upon the call of the roll call by the Reading Clerk, the following
members answered to their names:

Hagner, Weidemeyer, Rymer, Compton, Nimmerrichter, Arata, Dantoni, Malone,

son, Jones, Peters, Schirano, Einschutz, Heffner, Rush, Arnick, D'Anna, Minnick, Dize,

Grumbacher, Hoffman, Wagaman, Glaser, Allen, W. M., Doolan, Levitan, Maddox,
McInerney, Robertson, Shore, Becker, Bell, Docter, Koss, Maurer, Ruben, Zander,
Owens, Wiser, Byrnes, Reed, Sloan, Williams, Beck, Matthews, Burgess, Nichols, Laws,
Long, Bolden.                                                                                             Total—131

Members having answered to their names, the Chief Clerk announced
that a majority of all members elected being present, the House was
ready under the provisions of the Constitution to proceed with business.

On the motion of Delegate Becker of Montgomery County, seconded by
Delegate Kircher of Baltimore City, the name of Delegate Dorman of
Prince George's County was placed in nomination for Speaker pro tem.
Nominations were closed by motion; said motion prevailed.

Delegate Dorman was elected unanimously by roll call vote.

The Chief Clerk appointed Delegate Donovan and Delegate Pesci to escort
the Speaker pro tem to the rostrum.

The Speaker pro tem was sworn in by James P. Mause, Chief Clerk,
under House Rule No. 86.

The chair called for nominations for Speaker of the House of Delegates
for the Special Session of 1973.
