CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
1975, Chapter 551 — Appellate Judicial Selection and Tenure
STATE ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD OF ELECTION LAWS
ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23—11 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the State
Administrative Board of Election Lavs does hereby certify
that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 2, 1976, an Act known as Chapter 551
of the Acts of 1975 was submitted to the voters of the
State of Maryland under the provisions of Article XIV of
the Constitution of the State of Maryland, said Act being
as follows: AN ACT concerning Appellate Judicial Selection and
Tenure- For the purpose of proposing amendments to the
Constitution of Maryland relating to the selection and
tenure of certain judges; providing for a method of
filling vacancies in the office of a judge of an
appellate court; providing for noncontested elections of
appellate judges at certain intervals; setting the terms
of such judges; deleting references to the contested
election of certain judges; providing for the eligibility
of members of the General Assembly for judicial office;
making interim provision for certain incumbent judges;
and submitting these amendments to the qualified voters
of the State for adoption or rejection. And it is hereby certified that at said election,
601,199 votes were cast for the adoption of said Chapter
551 and 233,281 votes were cast against the adoption of
said Chapter 551, the said Chapter 551 of the Acts of
1975 has therefore been ratified by the qualified voters
of the State of Maryland. GIVEN Under My Hand and the Seal of the State
Administrative Board of Election Laws of the State of
Maryland, Done at the City of Annapolis, this 23rd day of
November, In the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand, Nine
