an applicant who meets certain requirements and who has
a certificate or proficiency and professional standing
from the National Board of Osteopathic Examiners; and
providing that the Board may grant a license without
examination to an applicant from another jurisdiction
who has met certain requirements, has passed an
acceptable examination in that jurisdiction, and who
has completed 1 year of postgraduate training.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 43 - Health

124.

(a) The Board shall license without examination the
following:

(1) Applicants having the qualifications
required by Section 123 and HAVING OBTAINED A PASSING SCORE
ON THE FEDERATION LICENSING EXAMINATION AS SET IN THE RULES
AND REGULATIONS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OR having certificates
of proficiency and professional standing of the National
Board of Medical Examiners OR THE NATIONAL BOARD OF
OSTEOPATHIC EXAMINERS IF ISSUED AFTER JANUARY 1, 1971, or
Boards of Medical Examiners of other jurisdictions, the
requirements of which are equal to, or greater than, those
of this State, provided that such other jurisdictions grant
the same privileges to licensed physicians of this State.

(3) Applicants from another jurisdiction who,
since January 1, 1960, have been granted the degree of
doctor of osteopathy from a school of osteopathy approved by
the American Osteopathic Association, [provided] PROVIDED:

(I)  THAT [that] said applicant has passed
the examination for the practice of medicine and surgery in
said other jurisdiction given to graduates of approved
medical schools WHICH IS, SUBSTANTIALLY EQUIVALENT TO THE
EXAMINATION FOR THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY GIVEN
TO GRADUATES OF APPROVED MEDICAL SCHOOLS IN THIS STATE, and
provided further that said other jurisdiction grants the
same privilege to doctors of osteopathy licensed to practice
medicine and surgery in this State.

(II)  THAT SAID APPLICANT HAS THE
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED BY § 123(1) AND (2).
