(House Joint Resolution No. 52)

A House Joint Resolution concerning

The Maryland Med-Evac Helicopter Advisory Committee

FOR the purpose of reconstituting the Maryland Med-Evac
Helicopter Advisory Committee to be the Maryland Executive
Helicopter Advisory Committee to provide ongoing oversight
and policy guidelines to the Maryland Institute for
Emergency Medical Services Systems.

WHEREAS, In 1977, the Maryland Med-Evac Helicopter Advisory
Committee was established to function as a high-level forum for
addressing Med-Evac issues and included the Governor of Maryland,
the Director of the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical
Services Systems, (MIEMSS), and the Superintendent of the
Maryland State Police; and

WHEREAS, The Maryland Med-Evac Helicopter Advisory Committee
last met in 1983; and

WHEREAS, A Memorandum of Understanding between MIEMSS and
the Maryland State Police was signed on April 28, 1983 stating
that the revitalization of Maryland's Med-Evac Helicopter
Advisory Committee would act as a forum and decision-making body
concerning policies involving Med-Evac Helicopter usage within
the State of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, The consultant study commissioned to evaluate the
Med-Evac Program recommended that the Maryland Med-Evac
Helicopter Advisory Committee should be revitalized to oversee
