EXECUTIVE ORDERS

WHEREAS, Treatment and health care services must be available;
and

-WHEREAS, Employers' and persons with the disease should be
familiar with resources as well as how to avail themselves
of the proper services, when needed;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE
OF MARYLAND, BY VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY THE
CONSTITUTION AND LAWS OF MARYLAND, HEREBY PROCLAIM THE
FOLLOWING ORDER:

A. The Advisory Council

There is a Governor's Advisory Council on Acquired
Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

B. Membership and Procedures

(1)  The Advisory Council shall consist of up to 27
members appointed by the Governor. Of the members
appointed, the Advisory Council shall include:

(a)  One member of the House of Delegates
nominated by the Speaker of the House.

(b)  One member of the Senate nominated by the
President of the Senate.

(c)  6 representatives form health care providers.

(d)  6 representatives from education.

(e)  5 representatives from community, service,
and civic organizations, and the general
public.

(f)  8 representatives from the private business
sector and state and local government.

(2)  The Governor shall appoint the Chairperson of the
Advisory Council.

(3)  The Governor may remove any member of the Advisory
Council for any cause adversely affecting the
member's ability or willingness to perform his or
her duties.

(4)  In the event of a vacancy, the Governor shall
appoint a successor for the remainder of the life
of the Advisory Council.

(5)  A majority of the Advisory Council shall constitute
