AN ACT concerning

State Tobacco Authority - Compensation

FOR the purpose of altering the compensation for the members of the State Tobacco
Authority; prohibiting the salary increase from affecting the incumbents; and
clarifying language.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 7-203(b)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

7-203.

(b) Each member shall be paid [$500] $750 annually except that any member who
is a regular employee of the State shall serve without compensation. Any member of the
Authority may be reimbursed for [his] THE MEMBER'S reasonable traveling expenses
incurred on behalf of the Authority in accordance with the Standard State Travel
Regulations.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the members of the State Tobacco Authority in
office on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary
or compensation of the members of the State Tobacco Authority shall take effect at the
beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1995.
